Who do you help?

Our Neurological Physiotherapists help children and adults following serious and catastrophic injuries including brain injury, spinal injury and complex trauma. NeuroPhysio has extensive experience in providing treatment to individuals during and following litigation and recognises the important role and responsibilities we assume when providing rehabilitation to this client group. We have developed comprehensive assessment and treatment processes that result in long term improvements and provide detailed written, photographic and video records.

Do you work with Case Managers and solicitors?

The NeuroPhysio team has extensive experience of working with Case Managers and Solicitors to provide rehabilitation for clients with complex needs during and following the litigation process. Our approach is aspirational, yet realistic, with the aim of maximising independence and maintaining health.

NeuroPhysio accepts instructions to complete Initial Needs Assessments (INA) to identify rehabilitation requirements and to provide recommendations for treatment, technology and equipment needs. Our reports are comprehensive, and our treatment programmes are goal directed and holistic. We welcome initial enquiries and offer meet and greet consultations via video without charge to ensure that our Neurological Physiotherapist is the most appropriate for the client and to begin the process of establishing a therapeutic relationship.

Where are you and what areas do you cover?

NeuroPhysio has a well-equipped neurological rehabilitation clinic in Stevenage, Hertfordshire and also provides a comprehensive domiciliary service in Herts, Essex, South Bedfordshire, East Buckinghamshire, North London and East London. Our provision is however expanding so if your enquiry relates to a client outside of these areas please do contact us and if we are unable to help we may be able to assist in recommending a more local Neurological Physiotherapist.

What kind of treatments do you offer?

NeuroPhysio provides effective, targeted treatment. Our Neurological Physiotherapists maintain high levels of professional standards and training which means that our treatment approaches are constantly evolving to ensure they’re the very best.

Neurological Physiotherapy treatments can broadly be divided into those that look to directly change the nature of the condition and others that train the body to compensate for a loss of function or utilise aids and strategies to adapt to a permanent change.

NeuroPhysio treatments can therefore be very varied but it’s often important that they’re intensive, repetitive and specific to whatever movement or task the client wants to do. To achieve this we provide structured exercises supported by videos and photographs, hands-on treatment, video analysis and retraining of movement, assistive technology, splinting and community focussed activities.

Do you see children at NeuroPhysio?

The Paediatric Physiotherapists at NeuroPhysio help babies, children and teens with developmental, orthopaedic and neurological problems.

How long are the appointments?

All NeuroPhysio consultations are one hour in duration, unless previously agreed. A comprehensive assessment may necessitate a longer initial meeting which would be agreed with you before taking place.

What are your opening hours?

NeuroPhysio is open Monday to Saturday, 9a.m. to 6p.m. If we are in a consultation and unable to answer your call please leave a message and one of our team will return it as soon as possible. You can also make enquires via our contact page.

What is your cancellation policy?

NeuroPhysio requires 24-hours’ notice of any cancellation and failure to do so may result in the full fee being charged. We do however recognise that sometimes our client’s complex needs necessitate changes to their timetables at short notice and we therefore seek to avoid cancellation charges when late notice cancellations are reasonable.

What is your referral process?

NeuroPhysio welcomes informal enquiries in the first instance to ensure that we are the very best option for your client. Following the initial enquiry we would expect to provide a CV for the treating Neurological Physiotherapist and our Terms & Conditions. Following a mutual agreement of the clinician’s suitability we can provide an accurate quotation for the initial assessment based on the client’s location. We offer an uncharged meet and greet session by telephone or video of up to 15-minutes if required. The treating clinician would then welcome a formal confirmation of instruction, acceptance of our Terms & Conditions, complete any required compliance questionnaires and expect to receive detailed referral information.

What happens in the assessment appointment?

NeuroPhysio assessments are comprehensive and specific to each person’s needs. The Physiotherapist will discuss what has led the client to seek treatment and find out a little about their background and the impact that the condition is having on them before deciding upon the most appropriate method of assessment. This is likely to involve some specific testing of their strength, joint movement, muscle flexibility, coordination and sensation. The physio will also want to see how they are able to move themselves with functional activities and may want to observe them completing any problematic tasks.

At the end of the initial consultation we will always discuss the findings of our assessment and how they relate to the problems that the client is experiencing, before agreeing the most suitable treatment approach. At NeuroPhysio we aim to start treating within the first session and will likely provide some specific advice or exercises to begin the client’s rehabilitation.

Does your neuro physio clinic have wheelchair access?

Our NeuroPhysio clinic in Stevenage is fully accessible including a wheelchair accessible toilet. Parking is located close to the clinic and if required the Physiotherapist will be happy to come out to help the client to find us.

How often will you schedule treatment?

This really depends on the nature of the client’s condition, the problems that they are experiencing, their goals, the treatment plans of other team members and how they would prefer to work. For some people a single session with some specific advice and an exercise prescription may be sufficient, whilst others may benefit most from a period of more intensive neurological rehabilitation. NeuroPhysio makes recommendations that are specific for each person we see as one size certainly does not fit all.

Worked with James for my father's rehabilitation following a sudden and severe stroke. James dealt with any situation with upmost professionalism, whilst being fun and friendly. Over the 12 months of physio the progress has been incredible (bringing me to tears occasionally!) and James has adapted to suit the changing needs of my dad. Through both home sessions and sessions within our local gym my Dad went from strength to strength and I cannot thank him enough. Thank you James, giving my dad a better future than we once thought wouldn't be possible.
